T-Shirt Design Contest Winner
At Texas History Day each year, hundreds of students, parents, and teachers involved in the contest purchase t-shirts to commemorate their participation in the event. When it came time to design this year's t-shirt, the Texas History Day staff gave students the opportunity to submit their own design ideas. We were glad to receive original designs from sixty-three creative students from all around the state. Thanks to each of you for your great work!
First, we would like to give an honorable mention to Andrew "Bosque" Wortham, a student at La Vernia Junior High School, for his design, "Cowquistadors." See Andrew's design here.
Bethany Poling from Eisenhower High School created the winning design that will be featured on the 2004 t-shirts. Bethany is an eleventh grade student in Michaelann Kelley's Art 1 class in Houston. Ms. Kelley gave her class a choice between three design contests in order to make her graphic design unit "real life" application rather than just art theory. The students applied their knowledge in layout and color theory to produce the designs. See Bethany's design here.
The t-shirts will be on sale at Texas History Day, May 7th and 8th. Thanks to all the students who submitted fabulous designs. We look forward to seeing more of your work next year!
