AIMABLE. The Aimable, one of the vessels that carried the La Salle expeditionqv to the Matagorda Bay area, was variously described as a flyboat, flute, pink, or hooker, of 250 to 300 tons burden. She was lost when the expedition was making its initial entry into the bay at the seaward end of Cavallo Passqv in February 1685. Most of the supplies brought along to assist in the founding of the French colony, originally intended to be at the mouth of the Mississippi River, were lost with the ship.
