AFFLECK, MARY HUNT (1847-1932). Mary Hunt Affleck, poet, daughter of J. A. and Anna (Adair) Hunt, was born in Danville, Kentucky, on January 20, 1847. She was educated at Harrodsburg Female College, Harrodsburg, Kentucky, moved to Texas in 1874, and settled in Burleson County. In Texas she won wide recognition as a nature poet; her works, generally published in newspapers, were widely read. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United Daughters of the Confederacy,qqv the Daughters of 1812, and the Texas Editorial Association. She was married to Isaac Dunbar Affleckqv on December 26, 1876; they were parents of three children. Mrs. Affleck died in Galveston on November 28, 1932.
