ATLANTA STATE RECREATION AREA. The Atlanta State Recreation Area is on the shores of Lake Wright Patman off Farm Road 1154, eight miles northwest of Atlanta in Cass County. The 1,475-acre park was acquired in 1954 by a license from the Department of the Army. The landscape features pine and oak forest with exposed red-clay bluffs. Park facilities include camp and picnic sites, a 3½-mile hiking trail, a boat ramp, an amphitheater, a playground, and a beach.
