ALAZAN BAYOU. Alazan Bayou, also known as Bayou Alazan, rises one mile south of Grayback in western Nacogdoches County (at 31°37' N, 94°46' W) and flows southeast for twelve miles to its mouth on the Angelina River, 1½ miles west of Procella (at 31°29' N, 94°45' W). The stream is intermittent in its upper reaches. It crosses an area of flat terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by clay and sandy loam. Water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses predominate in the local flora.
