BADGETT, JESSE B. (ca. 1807-?). Jesse B. Badgett, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence, was born in North Carolina about 1807. With his brother William he enrolled in the Texas army on November 15, 1835. The brothers came from Louisiana to Texas early in December, and Jesse B. Badgett joined the command of William B. Travis at the Alamo by February 1, 1836. The soldiers at the Alamo elected him a delegate to the Convention of 1836, where he was seated on March 1. After signing the Declaration of Independence, he left the convention and evidently returned to his home in Arkansas.
