BALLENTINE, JOHN J. (?-1836). John J. Ballentine, Alamo defender, was born in Pennsylvania. He was a single man and lived several years in Bastrop before the Texas Revolution. He served in the Alamo garrison as a member of Capt. William R. Carey's artillery company and died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
