BINFORD, PAULINE LARIMER (1893-1966). Pauline Larimer Binford, poet, daughter of Charles A. and Elizabeth (Wanamaker) Larimer, was born on June 17, 1893, near Library, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, on a homestead owned by her family since the time of the American Revolution. Her father, a Presbyterian minister, died before her birth. She moved to Texas with her mother in 1912 and enrolled at Baylor College in Belton (now the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor), from which she graduated in 1916. She taught in Texas high schools for several years. On September 1, 1923, she married Benjamin Bryan Binford of Dallas, where she resided the rest of her life. Mrs. Binford started her writing career early. Her first published poem appeared in the Pittsburgh Sun when she was thirteen. Through the years she contributed to a wide range of magazines, including religious periodicals, and received numerous honors for her work. She wrote two volumes of verse, My Heart Knows a Song (1948) and Keep the Wonder (1966), the latter of which was published only a few weeks before her death. She was a life member of the Poetry Society of Texas.^qv She died on August 28, 1966.
