BREEDING, DAVID W. (ca. 1778–1843). David W. Breeding, early settler, was born about 1778 in Virginia and moved to Christian County, Kentucky, by 1810. He married Sarah Davis; they had six sons, including John V., Napoleon B., Fidelio S., and Benjamin W. Breeding.qqv In February 1833 Breeding, with his family and two brothers, John and Richard Landy Breeding (not to be confused with David's sons by the same name), moved to Colorado County, Texas. In 1838 the part of Colorado County where he settled became Fayette County. Breeding was a member of the first board of land commissioners of the new county. He was also a juror at the first district court session held in Fayette County early in 1838. He died on December 28, 1843, and was buried at the Breeding family cemetery, five miles northeast of Fayetteville.
