BROWN, JAMES MURRY (1800–1836). James Murry Brown, Alamo defender, was born in Pennsylvania in 1800. He moved to Texas in 1835 and registered in De León's colony on April 17, 1835. He took part in the siege of Bexar and later served in the Alamo garrison. Brown died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
