BUTLER, GEORGE (?-?). George Butler, early settler, was born in Georgia and came to Texas by 1832, when he was a delegate to the Convention of 1832qv from the Tenehaw District (present-day Shelby County). In 1834 he was described on a certificate of character as being "a man of family consisting of five." In 1839 he was elected justice of the peace in Shelby County and associate land commissioner. He was still living in Shelby County in 1841.
