BEVIL OAKS, TEXAS. Bevil Oaks is on State Highway 105 six miles west of Beaumont in northern Jefferson County. The community was named after two subdivisions, Bevil Acres and River Oaks. The residential area of some 370 persons was incorporated in July 1963 by a 60–0 vote. In 1970 the federal census set the population at 663. By 1980 that figure had grown to 1,306. The community's economy depends largely on that of Beaumont and the heavily industrialized Golden Triangle (Beaumont-Orange-Port Arthur). In 1990 the population was 1,350, and in 2000 it was 1,346.
