BLACK ANKLE, TEXAS. Black Ankle is on a country road off Farm Road 3153 six miles east of San Augustine in northeastern San Augustine County. In 1940 the community had the Black Ankle school and a number of scattered dwellings. By 1988 all that remained at the site was a church.
