BEAN'S PRAIRIE, TEXAS. Bean's Prairie, also known as Bean's Creek, was a rural community on Beans Creek west of Alto in southeastern Cherokee County. Peter Ellis Bean settled there about 1839. At one time Bean's Prairie had a church, a mill, a gin, and a school, but in the early 1990s only a few scattered houses remained in the area.
