BARTON SPRINGS, TEXAS. The name Barton Springs is often given as an early name for Fredonia in Mason County, though the former seems to have been a separate community. Barton Springs was located in northeastern Mason County near the site of Fredonia and was supposedly named for Dick Barton, the owner of nearby springs.
