BEAR CREEK, TEXAS (Comal County). Bear Creek, a farming and stock-raising community on a creek of the same name eight miles northwest of New Braunfels in the hills of central Comal County, was settled in the 1860s. A spring in the Balcones Fault furnishes water for game and livestock there. Bear Creek Game Reserve was chartered in 1924 for the protection and propagation of fish and game.
