BURNELL SWITCH, TEXAS. Burnell Switch was a switch and loading track on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad at the Karnes-Bee county line. It served the Burnell oilfield, which extended across Medio Creek into Bee County, and reported three businesses and a population of ten in 1940. After World War II the businesses all closed, and in the early 1990s only a few scattered farmhouses remained in the area.
