BRIAR CREEK (Cooke County). Briar (Brier) Creek rises in extreme northeastern Cooke County (at 33°53' N, 96°57' W) and runs four miles northeast to its mouth on Lake Texoma, near the Sheppard Air Force Base Recreation Area in northwest Grayson County (at 33°53' N, 96°54' W). It crosses variable terrain surfaced by shallow, stony clay loam that supports juniper, oak, grasses, chaparral, and cacti.
