BAGGETT CREEK. Baggett Creek rises six miles southeast of Proctor in northeastern Comanche County (at 31°55' N, 98°24' W) and flows southwest for four miles to its mouth on the Leon River, three miles north of Gustine (at 31°54' N, 98°25' W). The stream was named for John Baggett, an early settler in the region. Although a Baggett community once existed on the creek, only a church building remains in the area. The creek travels through an area of steep slopes surfaced by shallow, stony soils that support cacti and sparse grasses.
