BACKBONE RIDGE. Backbone Ridge is a small chain of hills between Burnet and Marble Falls in southwestern Burnet County. It extends from a point overlooking Lake Lyndon B. Johnson, a mile south of the intersection of Farm roads 2342 and 1431 (30°39' N, 98°25' W), to a point three miles north of State Park Road 4 (30°43' N, 98°20' W). The elevation of the range is 1,100 to 1,500 feet, 200 to 400 feet higher than the surrounding countryside. Among its peaks are Backbone Mountain and Bald Knob.
