BAIRD LAKE. Baird Lake is a natural lake four miles west of the Andrews-Martin county line and eight miles north of the Andrews-Ector-Midland county intersection in southeastern Andrews County (at 32°12' N, 102°17' W). The lake is the site of Baird Springs, the only remaining active springs in the county. Extensive windmill and oil drilling, combined with large irrigation projects, has depleted sources of surface water in the area. The lake is located in a remote region of oilfields and ranchlands.
