BRAZOS SANTIAGO PASS. Brazos Santiago Pass is the water passage between Padre Island and Brazos Island, just southeast of Port Isabel in Cameron County (at 26°04' N, 97°07' W). It provides entry to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and to the Brownsville Ship Channel. The name Brazos Santiago is often mistakenly said to have been given the inlet by Francisco de Garay, though he never came to the area.
