CENTER: A JOURNAL FOR ARCHITECTURE IN AMERICA. Center is published annually by the Center for American Architecture at the University of Texas at Austin and distributed through bookstores by Rizzoli International. The journal, which was founded in 1985, is based on annual symposia organized by the center. Each edition surveys a current topic in American architecture through essays, illustrations, and presentations of major architectural projects. Subjects have included studies of the Mediterranean influence in contemporary building, the New Regionalism, and Modernist visions of the city and their influence on American urban architecture. The publication is funded in part by endowments and grants from foundations and individuals.
