CAMPBELL, MICHAEL (?-?). Michael Campbell, participant in the battle of San Jacinto,^qv arrived in Texas in January 1836, according to a headright certificate, and joined Capt. Jacob Snively's^qv company on a two-year enlistment. He later received a land grant for his service from January 1836 to June 1838.

Several other men named Michael Campbell also served in the Texas army from the Texas Revolution^qv through the years of the Republic of Texas,^qv but historian Louis W. Kemp^qv states that none of them fought at San Jacinto. One of these soldiers came to Texas in 1835. He enlisted in Capt. Henry Teal's^qv company early in 1836 but was transferred to an artillery company under Isaac N. Moreland.^qv He later served under Capt. Peter B. Dexter^qv until June 20, 1836. The Texas government issued two bounty certificates in the name Michael Campbell: one for 1,280 acres of land for service from June 1836 to November 1837 and another for 240 acres of land for service from November 1839 to March 1841. Yet another Michael Campbell, born in Ireland in 1813, came to the republic in 1841, participated in the Texan Santa Fe expedition,^qv and was living in Bastrop County in 1874.
