CÁRDENAS, ALONSO DE (?-?). Alonso de Cárdenas and Juan Cortinas were sent by the Marqués de Aguayoqv in 1720 to select a site for a mission to be placed under the supervision of Father Antonio Margil de Jesús.qv The resulting mission was San José y San Miguel de Aguayo in San Antonio. On August 6, 1721, Cárdenas and Cortinas attended the refounding of Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de los Hainai Mission, which had been abandoned in 1719 and was reestablished in 1721 as Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña Mission in San Antonio.
