CARSON, WILLIAM C. (1790-1836). William C. Carson, one of Stephen F. Austin's^qv Old Three Hundred^qv colonists, was born in Delaware in 1790 and moved to Texas from Indiana or possibly Louisiana about 1824. He was married to Katherine (Catherine) Patterson, and the couple had five children. Carson received title to a league of land now in Brazoria County on May 15, 1827. He was reportedly in poor health when he arrived in Texas and died before the end of the Texas Revolution^qv in 1836. His widow and children fled to the Sabine in the Runaway Scrape^qv that year. His widow married Gail Borden, Sr., in 1842.
