CROUCH, CARRIE JOHNSON (1887-1967). Carrie Johnson Crouch, county historian, was born in Graham, Texas, on September 10, 1887, the second of six children born to Clark Wesley and Martha Blanche (Eichelberger) Johnson. Her father was the Republican nominee for governor in 1912. In 1909 she married Eugene A. Crouch of McKinney. She wrote Young County: History and Biography, first published in 1937 and republished with revisions by the Texas State Historical Association in 1956 as A History of Young County, Texas. She also wrote a brief history of Fort Belknap, published by the Graham Leader. Mrs. Crouch was a Republican and served as county chairman from 1942 until 1952. She was active in the Methodist Church, the Poetry Society of Texas,qqv and the Fort Belknap Genealogical Association. She and her husband had one child, a daughter. Carrie Crouch died on May 23, 1967, in Graham.
