CAMP SWIFT, TEXAS. Camp Swift is a rural community located off State Highway 95 about five miles north of Bastrop in north central Bastrop County. Named for Camp Swift,qv the military training facility, this dispersed residential development began around the mid-1980s and represented the increasing construction in the area of Lake Bastrop. The 1990 census reported a population of 2,681. That number had increased to 4,731 in 2000.
