CAMP SWIFT, TEXAS. Camp Swift is a rural community located off State Highway 95 about five miles north of Bastrop in north central Bastrop County. Named for Camp Swift,^qv the military training facility, this dispersed residential development began around the mid-1980s and represented the increasing construction in the area of Lake Bastrop. The 1990 census reported a population of 2,681. That number had increased to 4,731 in 2000.
