CENTER, TEXAS (Limestone County). Center is at the intersection of State Highway 164 and Farm Road 1953, seven miles west of Groesbeck in eastern Limestone County. In the 1940s it had a church, two businesses, and twenty-five residents. By the late 1960s its population had increased to seventy-six. Construction of Lake Limestone in the mid-1970s may have provided a small boost to the local economy. By the late 1980s, however, only a store remained at Center, though in 1990 and again in 2000 the community's population was still reported as seventy-six.
