COLORADO, TEXAS. Colorado is two miles southeast of Smithville in southeastern Bastrop County. In 1905 it had a one-teacher school for fifty black students; the school was probably absorbed by the Smithville Independent School District in 1921. In the 1940s a church and several scattered houses marked the community on county highway maps, but by the 1980s only a cemetery and a church remained. No population estimates were available in 2000.
