CENTERPOINT, TEXAS (Hays County). Centerpoint (Center Point) was about five miles south of San Marcos in southern Hays County. It was a public school community in the late 1800s and early 1900s and continued to serve Mexican-American residents of the area after the initial consolidation of county schools. In the 1980s Centerpoint was the site of a historical marker recording the route of the Spanish colonial King's Highway, or Camino Real (see SPANISH TEXAS).
