CANEY CREEK
(Washington County). Caney Creek rises six miles west of Chappell
Hill in Washington County (at 30°08' N, 96°21' W) and
runs southeast for sixteen miles to its mouth on the Brazos River,
at the juncture of the Washington, Austin, and Waller county lines
(at 30°04' N, 96°09' W). The creek forms a large part
of the Washington-Austin county line. Caney Creek flows through
gently to moderately sloping terrain surfaced by clays and fine
sandy loam soils that support grasslands. Land near the creek's
mouth is cropland.
