CAIMAN CREEK. Caiman Creek rises nine miles southwest of Artesia Wells in southwestern La Salle County (at 28°09' N, 99°21' W) and runs east for ten miles to its mouth on the Nueces River, eighteen miles southeast of Artesia Wells (at 28°09' N, 99°02' W). It crosses low-rolling to flat terrain with locally shallow depressions and a surface of clay and sandy loams that support grasses, mesquite, and chaparral upstream and water-tolerant hardwoods and grasses downstream.
