CHOCTAW CREEK. Choctaw Crees rises 3½ miles southwest of Sherman in central Grayson County (at 33°37' N, 96°42' W) and runs northeast for thirty-eight miles to its mouth on the Red River, 2½ miles northwest of Anthony in western Fannin County (at 33°43' N, 96°22' W). It crosses into Fannin County just north of Ambrose. The surrounding flat terrain with local shallow depressions is surfaced by clay and sandy loams that support water-tolerant hardwoods, conifers, and grasses. Some tributaries to Choctaw Creek include South Branch, Cedar Creek, Mill Creek, and Cleveland Branch.
