DWYER, EDWARD (?–1854). Edward Dwyer (Dyer), early San Antonio resident, a brother of Thomas Dwyer, was born in Ireland. He was a partner of William Elliott in San Antonio about 1839. In 1840, with George W. Blow and José Antonio Navarro,^qqv he was appointed to investigate fraudulent land claims in the Bexar District. On July 18, 1843, he married Mrs. Marianna Leal Ramón; they had four children. Dwyer was mayor of San Antonio in 1845 and owned a row of buildings facing the site of the present courthouse. He died in San Antonio in April 1854.
