DAINGERFIELD STATE RECREATION AREA. Daingerfield State Recreation Area is off State Highway 49 two miles east of Daingerfield in south central Morris County. The 551-acre park includes an eighty-acre lake and was established in 1935 as a Civilian Conservation Corpsqv project. It was opened to the public in 1938. During the Civil Warqv the area was a center of iron manufacture where factories made guns and other metal products. The flora is mixed pine and hardwood forest. Park facilities include camp and picnic sites, a 2½-mile hiking trial, a boat ramp, a playground, and a fishing pier.
