DALTON GANG. The Dalton gang, a small band of outlaws who held up trains in the Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas region, was organized in February 1891, by Bob and Emmett Dalton, George Newcomb, Charley Bryant, and William McElhanie. In the winter of 1891-92 the gang had a hideout in Greer County, Texas (later Oklahoma). Bob, Grat, and Emmett Dalton, Bill Powers, and Dick Broadwell attempted to rob two Coffeyville, Kansas, banks on October 5, 1892, with the result that all were killed except Emmett Dalton.
