DUCK CREEK (Grayson County). Duck Creek, which is intermittent in its upper reaches, rises just within the northern city limits of Denison in northern Grayson County (at 33°45' N, 96°33' W) and runs first northeast, then southeast for a total of just over four miles to its mouth on the Red River, 1½ miles northeast of Denison (at 33°47' N, 96°30' W). It traverses flat to slightly rolling terrain with local shallow depressions, surfaced by soils ranging from sandy and clay loams to shallow, stony, clay loams that support mixed hardwoods, pine, juniper, oak, conifers, chaparral, cacti, and various grasses.
