ELKINS, TEXAS (Brown County). Elkins, at the intersection of two country roads eight miles southeast of Brownwood in southeastern Brown County, developed on two early Comanche Indian trails. The community had a post office from 1901 to 1906, and in the early 1940s it had a church, a business, and a population of fifteen. By 1947 Elkins reported a business and a population of twenty-five, but by 1949 no population figures were available. A cemetery remained at the site in the 1980s.
