EAGLE MILLS, TEXAS. Eagle Mills, three miles northeast of Joaquin in northeastern Shelby County, was a sawmill community founded about 1885 and named for an employee of the Hicks Mill. In 1903 it had a school for fifty students, and in 1938 the school served seventy-three. At one time the community had the school, a gin, a store, churches, and sawmills, but the town declined as the forest in the area was cut down. By 1946 Eagle Mills had lost its businesses and only one residence remained.
