EAST FORK OF HOWARD DRAW. The East Fork of Howard Draw, a valley with an intermittent stream, rises in north central Crockett County (at 31°03' N, 101°19' W) and runs southwest for twelve miles to its mouth on Howard Draw, two miles north of U.S. Highway 190 (at 30°56' N, 101°23' W). It dissects massive limestone and crosses an area varying from steep to gentle slopes to flat terrain with wash deposits of sand, gravel, and mud. Soils in the area are generally dark, calcareous stony clays and clay loams and support oaks, junipers, grasses, mesquites, scrub brush, and water-tolerant hardwoods and conifers.
