FERGUSON FORUM. The Ferguson Forum, a weekly political newspaper, was the organ of James E. Ferguson^qv throughout eighteen years of his political life. He considered it necessary because Texas newspapers had "submarined the truth" concerning his impeachment. The Forum began publication in Temple on November 8, 1917. It was published there, except for a five-month period in 1923 when Ferguson moved it to Dallas, until October 6, 1927, and thereafter in Austin. The Fergusons used the paper to generate campaign funds as well as to present their views to the public. During Miriam Amanda (Ma) Ferguson's^qv first term as governor in the 1920s, her administration was criticized for awarding lucrative highway contracts to firms that purchased expensive advertising space in the Forum. The paper continued publication until April 11, 1935. The Texas State Archives^qv possesses a good run of the newspaper.
