FERGUSON, ALANSON (1791-1851). Alanson Ferguson, chief justice and legislator, was born in 1791 and moved to Texas sometime before 1840, when he was chief justice of San Patricio County, a position that he resigned on September 1, 1841. He was elected to represent the county in the House of the Sixth Congress of the Republic of Texas,qv but he lost a contest on the election. Ferguson died at Corpus Christi on December 31, 1851.
