FERNÁNDEZ, BERNARDO (?-?). On November 21, 1794, Bernardo Fernández was put in charge of the Spanish garrison at Nacogdoches. In September of the following year he was relieved of his duties and sent as interpreter by Manuel Muñoz,qv governor of Texas, to urge the Ais and other East Texas Indians to come to San Antonio. On April 9, 1797, Fernández was appointed captain of the garrison at La Bahía.qv
