FOY, FREDERICK (ca. 1778-1854). Frederick Foy, farmer and early settler, was born in South Carolina around 1778. He grew up and married there and subsequently moved to the area of Monroe, Louisiana. In 1828 he moved to Texas and probably settled originally in the Tenehaw District (now in Shelby County), which he represented in the Convention of 1832. By 1837 he was living in San Augustine, where he became senior warden in the local Masonic lodge in 1837. By 1845 he had moved to Sabine County, where he was a farmer. Foy and his family moved from Sabine County to the Prairie Lea area of Caldwell County in 1851 or 1852; there he continued farming until his death, in 1854.
