FAIRVIEW, TEXAS (Collin County). Fairview is on Farm Road 1378 and State Highway 5, three miles south of McKinney and six miles northeast of Plano in central Collin County. The growth of nearby Plano as a business center of North Texas during the late 1960s stimulated the growth of Fairview, which doubled in population from 175 in 1960 to 325 in 1970. By 1981 the population had jumped to 893. In 1990 Fairview had 1,554 residents, many of whom commuted to Plano or McKinney, the county seat. In 2000 the population was 2,644.
