FOLLETS ISLAND. Follets Island, a peninsula, is across San Luis Pass to the southwest of Galveston Island in southern Brazoria County (at 29°03' N, 95°10' W). The peninsula is bordered by the Gulf of Mexico to the east and Christmas Bay to the west. It was formerly known as the Velasco Peninsula, and the north end has been joined with what was formerly San Luis Island. Follets Island protects Christmas Bay and Mud and Moodys islands from the storms and tides of the Gulf of Mexico.
