GARRETT, JAMES GIRARD (1806-1836). James Girard Garrett, Alamo defender, was born in Tennessee in 1806. He was a resident of Louisiana when he marched to Texas as a member of Capt. Thomas H. Breece's^qv company of New Orleans Greys^qv in 1835. Garrett took part in the siege of Bexar^qv and later served in the Alamo garrison. He died in the battle of the Alamo^qv on March 6, 1836.
