GASTON, JOHN E. (1819–1836). John E. Gaston, Alamo defender, son of widow Rebecca (Warfield) Gaston and stepson of George Washington Davisqv, was born in 1819. At the time of the Texas Revolution he was a resident of Gonzales. Gaston arrived at the Alamo as a member of the relief force from Gonzales on March 1, 1836. He died in the battle of the Alamo on March 6, 1836.
